The speedy evolution of communication technologies has evoked the emergence of the fifth generation (5G) wireless networks, promising enhanced data speeds, low latency, and support for an ever-expanding Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem. However, as the 5G landscape grows in complexity, ensuring robust network security becomes paramount. This study presents a detailed analysis of the CIC-IOT 2023 dataset. A detailed dataset for assessing IoT device behaviors and interactions in a 5G network The primary objective of this analysis is to uncover potential vulnerabilities and security challenges that may arise in 5G-connected IoT ecosystems. The CIC-IOT 2023 dataset provides a diverse range of network traffic scenarios, encompassing various IoT device types and communication protocols. Leveraging machine learning techniques and anomaly detection algorithms, this research aims to identify anomalous patterns that might indicate unauthorized access attempts, data breaches, or other malicious activities. Furthermore, this analysis delves into the identification of attack vectors that exploit vulnerabilities unique to 5G networks. As 5G ushers in innovative functionalities like massive machine-type communications (mMTC), network slicing, and ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC), it becomes imperative to examine how these elements may be susceptible to exploitation by malicious entities. By examining the dataset, this study investigates potential threats that could exploit these new 5G capabilities, offering insights into the security implications they bring to the IoT landscape. We enhance 5G network security by providing a comprehensive analysis of the CIC-IOT 2023 dataset. By identifying vulnerabilities, anomalous behaviors, and potential attack vectors, this study offers valuable insights into safeguarding the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of 5G-connected IoT systems.
