Classical application development typically involves a monolithic architecture, where the application is constructed as a single entity. However, modern software systems demand characteristics such as high concurrency, availability, scalability, cohesion, and low coupling. Microservices present an architectural approach in modern software development, wherein applications are viewed as a collection of loosely coupled, fine-grained services that communicate via simple protocols. This paper outlines the process of migrating a Java application, used for organizing thesis defense commissions at a faculty, from a monolithic architecture to a microservices architecture.
