Humectants and humidifiers can be used to prevent dryness in daily life. However, there are problems such as the inability to alleviate the feeling of dryness even when such chemicals or devices are used, the constitution of the body that does not suit the skin to begin with, and environments that do not allow the use of such devices. In this study, we focus on the influence of the Proteus effect on the perception of the body and investigate a system in which the skin of the avatar, which is the body of the user, is moisturized from a psychological perspective by presenting a situation in which the avatar's skin is moistened or looks like it is moistening. For this purpose, this study created an avatar that could be called the user's alter ego, and investigated whether any trends could be confirmed by periodically measuring physiological and psychological changes in the skin condition of a subject viewing a screen in which the avatar exists in three types of environments that seem to moisturize the skin.
