Hardware board designs are centered around the main chips that perform the main data processing task. In most chapters in this book, we refer to processors, network ASICs, AI, and other types of ASICs and FPGAs as just “ASIC” or “main chip” to avoid having to include a string like “CPU/ASIC/FPGA” into every other sentence.
