Dynamic Reliability Scheme for SRv6-Based SFC Orchestration

Qing Miao · 2023

Segment Routing (SRv6) based Service Function Chaining (SFC) has emerged as a prominent and widely adopted solution for service processing of traffic. It offers the valuable capability for deployment of value-added services in a flexible manner. However, the existing reliable mechanisms within the current SRv6-based SFC service chain are highly reliant on the underlying network topology, rendering them less optimal for scenarios involving the convergence of cloud and network resources where service provisioning is highly elastic. This paper introduces a novel approach aimed at addressing the issue of service processing and optimization of the service activation time in SRv6-based SFC orchestration by extending the sub-sub TLVs to carry SF attribute information in SRH header and extended SRv6 ping detection message process to publish the FSC orchestration. Our proposed dynamic reliable scheme seeks to enhance the adaptability and flexibility of the service chaining process, offering a more efficient solution for accommodating the ever-changing service processing demands in cloud-network convergence scenarios.
