Optimizing Assessment of Knowledge Transfer Through Computational Thinking: An L&D Project

This technological innovation is an outcome based on a call for action to develop a more holistic understanding of computational thinking during problem-solving.Given that the potential to facilitate the transfer of computational thinking skills to more complex and novel problems is critical in higher education, the goal of this innovation was to design an assessment that captures the latter.Through a design-based process with computer science students as coinquirers, an existing transfer tool was optimized by combining formative-iterative and datamining assessments at various difficulty levels.Potential outcomes of the design process are discussed considering future educational interventions with computational thinking.
