Immersive technologies: new ways to visualise a possible future world

José Corraliza Miranda · Edward Elgar Publishing eBooks · 2024

Technology is changing the way we think, conceive and design architecture and engineering projects, but not only that, it is also changing the way we perceive them and communicate with colleagues and clients. Immersive Technologies, which include Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, are a key channel we can use to convey our messages in the best possible way, since they do not require any specific technical training for good understanding of the message, as they are based on the operation of our own natural senses. These new tools are relevant to all project phases and can be applied anytime, not only to raise awareness among the beneficiaries of a project, or people affected by it, but also to help the engagement of investors in the financing. They are also a tremendous help in validating the design and making any necessary adjustments and improvements before construction begins.
