Mohamed N. Abd El-Ghany, Fatma M. Shahat, Mariam M. Hassan · 2024

Nanoparticles have a wide effective contact surface because of their nano scale. Nanomaterials have tremendous reactivity and adsorption. The advancement of nanomaterial technology will be beneficial for the treatment of wastewater. From an environmental and economic perspective, the sustainable recycling of harmful waste materials for the production of inexpensive nanomaterials and their efficient application for the remediation of contaminated water are of major significance. Because to its toxic effects, carcinogenic effects, and negative effects on ecosystem health and food security, contamination of water has become a major environmental issue on a global. So, in order to lessen the risk, it is urgently necessary to remove these harmful chemicals from contaminated water. Toxic wastewater damages both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. For the purpose of treating sewage, the special properties of nanomaterials are currently being carefully considered. In this chapter, we will highlight the different sources of waste from which nanomaterials would be produced and how they can be employed in wastewater treatment.
