G.A. Westlund, US Atomic Energy Commission (AEC), M. Storm · 1958

Purpose: To monitor one to five blocks of instructions in memory and print all pertinent information as the instructions are performed. Method: The blocks to be monitored are designated by up to five control cards. SAM1 will assume control of the monitored program only upon the performance of the instruction located at the numerically low end of a block. It will relinquish control upon the performance of any instruction located outside of the block. An erase feature is provided to remove any block by means of sense switch 6. After each instruction is monitored, a one-line octal print-out is executed, consisting of (1) the location of the instruction, (2) the instruction itself (operation in letters, address, tag and decrement in octal numerals), (3) the contents of a location in memory if referred to, (4) the contents of the AC, (5) the contents of the MQ, (6) the contents of index registers if referred to, (7) sense switch settings, (8) the status of the sense lights, (9) the status of the AC and MQ overflow lights, and (10) the status of the divide-check light. Lights on are indicated by *, lights off by -.
