A Graph-Based Modeling Assembly Instructions Approach for Offline Assembly Task Verification

F.-M. Lin, Pei-Hsuan Tsai · 2023

Assembly factories in Taiwan face challenges in interpreting assembly manuals, ensuring consistency in assembly procedures, and automating the verification process. To address these issues, an automatic graph-based modeling tool for assembly manuals is proposed. This tool converts assembly instructions into machine-readable graphs that capture action-object interaction information to support offline assembly verification. The effectiveness of the tool is demonstrated by its high accuracy on the dataset created in this paper. The contributions of this work include reducing manual interpretation efforts, minimizing representation inconsistencies, and providing a structure representation that incorporates detailed action-object interaction information.
