EVOLUTION OF CAPTCHA TYPES AND THEIR ROLE IN SECURITY: A REVIEW

A Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart (CAPTCHA) is a test use to determine whether the user is a human or a bot program.CAPTCHA is a program that generate grade test that most humans can pass but current computer can't pass.CAPTCHA can be found as blurred or distorted random images, in free email signups, online polls etc., these images are different to recognize by bots programs but easy for most humans.This study aims to provide a comprehensive review of CAPTCHA and different types of CAPTCHAs, which have shown promising results in various websites security.Overall, this paper will present the strengths and limitations of different types of CAPTCHAs, including their working, performance on different websites.By providing a thoroughly understanding of these frameworks, this study aims to assist researchers and practitioners to make better decisions and to know which frameworks are used in previous research work.
