While it takes strong and developed language skills to teach languages at the advanced level, the real work is in getting learners started. We’re so often dealing with fears and getting through feelings of failure for trying to communicate as well as people do in their native language(s). There is also the simple fact that while we’re in the Novice/A range, we begin with nothing and end the level with a bank of words and phrases in our target language with which learners can begin to create their own messages.
