Blockchain-based Model for Secure and Trusted IoT System

Rajesh Kumar, Rewa Sharma · 2023

Blockchain and the Internet of Things (IoT) have emerged as transformative technologies with the potential to revolutionize the information world. By integrating IoT smart devices into industries and leveraging the security features of Blockchain, such as data immutability and decentralized architecture, the information and entities within IoT systems can be effectively secured. This paper presents a multi-organization security model based on Hyperledger Fabric Blockchain, which ensures secure data trace ability from IoT devices across geographically dispersed organizations. Access and updates to this data are limited to authenticated means only, guaranteeing both security and trust among connected IoT nodes. To validate the feasibility of the model, we provide a proof-of-concept implementation involving three businesses and one orderer organization. Furthermore, we evaluate the model's performance using Hyperledger Caliper and Explorer tools thereby reinforcing its efficacy.
