Rajdeep Chakraborty, Anupam Ghosh, Jyotsna Kumar Mandal, Tanupriya Choudhury, Prasenjit Chatterjee · 2024

The development of Internet of Things (IoT) will improve many everyday processes for both small customers and commercial organizations. This chapter conducts a study on different security issues in the IoT and the existing lightweight messaging protocols, namely MQTT, CoAP, AMQP, HTTP, DDS, and XMPP, and compares them. It outlines the IoT construction and the safety challenges faced at each layer of the protocol stack organized by the IoT. An IoT deployment consists of varied devices with implanted sensors interconnected through a network. Security threats related to the IoT deployment architecture are described as follows: low-level security threats, intermediate-level security threats, and high-level security threats. The chapter describes and analyzes numerous solutions associated with blockchain security. It discusses some of the most important security and privacy issues. The chapter also discusses IoT messaging protocols, and edge computing.
