An electric vehicle requires several critical components for operation, including the battery pack managed by a battery management system (BMS) and the electric motor controlled by a motor control unit (MCU). The BMS ensures battery safety and longevity by managing charging, monitoring temperature, and preventing overcharging/discharge, and MCU regulates motor speed/torque for optimal performance. Current vehicle designs typically incorporate separate BMS and MCU units, which can increase complexity, cost, and weight. This project proposes an integrated BMS and MCU architecture for L1, L2, and L3 category electric vehicles, which combines the functions of both units into a single control unit. This project aims to optimize efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining performance and safety standards. The integrated control unit will also function as a vehicle control unit (VCU), providing a user interface for the driver to monitor and control vehicle functions such as speed, battery charge level, and range.
