In the modern online environment, anonymity networks are highly common, and more people are making an effort to protect their privacy. The most practical anonymity network now in use, Tor protects users' identity as well as those of services (hidden services). Nevertheless, there are other ways in which Tor's anonymity is abused. A few instances of this include spreading restricted content, running required command and standard servers for botnets, and hosting illicit websites for the sale of drugs. As a result, attacks that help obscure the The Onion router network, interfere with its operations, and get beyond its censorship circumvention techniques are of interest to a variety of organizations, including government law enforcement agencies. In this paper, we summarize well-known Tor assaults and include the most recent methods for identifying hidden services and unknown Tor users.
