Empowering Biometrics Authentication System Using Decentralized Blockchain Based Applications

Harsh Shukla, Bharat Bhushan · 2023

Biometric authentication systems are the most popular way of storing and securing information and has significantly evolved with the passage of time. But the major problem with this system still exists in the world, i.e., weak security which indirectly results in the risk of biometric information leakage which leads to unreliability of its modules, and non-transparency of its information management. On the other hand, Blockchain technology which is a collaborative and unchangeable record-keeping system that simplifies the task of documenting transactions and monitoring resources within a corporate network become popular and drawn major attention of the communities because of its high-end security feature as it is decentralized, its reliability, and durability. This paper highlights the idea of bringing up these two modern technologies together so as to provide more security to biometrics authentication system with the help of blockchain and analyses the challenges with this integration. Also, biometrics will help blockchain to improve its present distributed schemes for digital identity. This will also help in many real-world inventions like smart devices.
