Register Transfer Level Implementation of FSM Based Automated Vending Machine with User Account Feature Using 45nm CMOS Technology
Ahmed Mustakim, K. M. Daiyan · 2023
In the modern world, Vending machine is an integral part of the market because of its 24/7 availability with variety of products. The aim of this paper is to discuss a mealy type finite state machine based vending machine with several features including cash and digital payment system for single or multiple customers, mistakenly inserted cash return etc. Afterwards, the performance parameters are evaluated and compared with the existing works. Finally, a layout is created using 45nm CMOS technology and modified according to the design rules. The system is based on Bangladeshi currency "Taka" and demonstrated for two products. The source code is written in verilog language and the functionality is verified using EDA Playground. Register-transfer level(RTL) synthesis and chip level layout extraction and optimization are performed using Cadence tools: Genus, Innovus and Virtuoso. The low latency (2.48ns), compact area (509.38μm2) and low power consumption (23.286μW) accompanied with negligible leakage energy (124.69nW) are achieved through different optimizer algorithms.
