Innovation has been the bastion of human existence since the dawn of history. Our ancestors survived on innovation, rudimentary as it might have been at that time. Chapter 1 covers the fundamentals of measurements and rubrics from a systems perspective. The chapter traces the background of innovation to prehistoric times and the various tools and techniques developed over the centuries to accomplish innovation for the purpose of commerce.
