An IoT-Based Smart Healthcare System with Edge Intelligence Computing

Puranam Revanth Kumar, B. Shilpa · Apple Academic Press eBooks · 2024

In response to the technology revolution and the population explosion, the need for real-time, inexpensive, and efficient smart healthcare services is developing tremendously. As a result, many healthcare systems are unable to provide a specialized resource service for patients with specific needs. An intelligent approach is needed in order to deal with the rising demands on this crucial infrastructure. To solve this issue, edge computing (EC) technologies can minimize latency and energy usage by physically relocating activities closer to data sources. Using EC, this system can monitor and evaluate the physical health of its users. As a result, each user’s risk level for health problems is taken into account while allocating computing resources over the whole network of the EC. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the advantages of implementing edge intelligent technology, as well as the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in smart healthcare systems, in order to improve patient outcomes. In addition, a new smart healthcare model has been developed to increase the use of AI and edge technologies in smart healthcare. Finally, we talk about possible problems and future research directions that could arise when these different technologies are combined.
