Tracking proficiency levels in Spanish was an important feature of the dual language program. This chapter examines language acquisition connected to content, performance descriptors for language learners, and examples for linguistic connections. The power of stories and authentic communication was highlighted and practical examples were provided. The caveat that all teachers are language teachers was emphasized throughout the chapter.
