With numerous applications in the fields of medicine, defence, space exploration, security systems, and surveillance, digital image processing is a widely researched field. Image acquisition and transmission is the first step of image processing applications which result into a image frequently degrades due to causes such noise, temperature, dust and malfunctioning charge coupling devices in electronics circuits. These factors produce noisy images by changing some or all of the image's pixels. These noises fall into several categories including Gaussian noise, Shot noise, Spike noise, and speckle noise. Noise removal as a pre-processing step helps to enhance image quality. Medical images corrupted by different noises may cause disturbances in AI based automated diagnosis. The dataset used in this work is of medical images. In this paper, cascade combination of filter techniques has been proposed for noise removal. The results show improvement in the image quality compared to the individual or single filtering with reference to different quality metrics. The algorithm has been simulated in MATLAB.
