There have been various notions of security, starting with the perfect secrecy as proposed by Claude Shannon and its subsequent relaxations. These include computational security against adversaries with limited resources and information theoretic security, where Eve's access to information is restricted.Further deviations, such as individual security, have also been widely explored. The recently proposed Hybrid and Universal Network Coding Cryptosystem (HUNCC) aims to combine the best of both worlds and achieve secure communication with a high transmission rate. The design of this network coding-inspired cryptosystem involves linear coding of data across multiple links and encryption of a portion of it.This approach achieves computational security against strong eavesdroppers who observe all communication links, as well as information theoretic security against weaker adversaries who can only access a subset of links. The hardware implementation of the proposed approach showcases substantial energy reduction achievable without compromising the security level of individual messages. The universality of the approach is demonstrated through the architecture's ability to accommodate both asymmetric and symmetric cryptosystems. This advancement makes cryptosystems well-suited for energyefficient scenarios, marking a significant step towards more sustainable communication.
