Extraction and Upadation of Alumni Information from Web Profiles Using Web Scraping

Alumni are the graduates of Higher Education Institutes (HEI). They become vital asset for the alma mater to attain the Institutional Advancements (IA). This paper proposes the centralized applied framework for the management of alumni within the institutions. The main objective of this project is to build a bridge between the alumni’s and institutions with an information retrieval platform called Almadatum. The purpose of Almadatum is to track the readily accessible alumni information at college, and this data has much importance when it comes to any Accreditation Councils. The presented system can generate the reports of the alumni in the identified characteristics and requirements. Updating the information of an alumnus or alumnae become easy now because of the interface we have proposed. The system is associated with web scraping and web crawling techniques for gathering and updating alumni information which makes it reliable. The usage of web scraping made the system even more advanced and effective, having a system which leverages scraping social media profiles of alumni such as LinkedIn to provide accurate data is a beneficial advancement to IA. This portal has been designed with many features few from them like: Alumni can donate to the institutions, view the conducted meeting as well as the upcoming meetings with alumnus. The portal does also contains a communication page similar to social network site for alumni through which they can view, edit, update their details. Alumni can post job vacancies by using communication page and all the posted vacancies are visible in communication page itself, this can facilitate current students who are searching for a job. Overall ALMADATUM is serving the purpose of maintaining alumni engagement for HEI.
