Samuel Ibukun Olotu, Agbotiname Lucky Imoize · 2023

Healthcare service provided with the application of communication technologies is known as telehealth. The delivery in telehealth ranges from a phone consultation between a medical professional and a patient to a more complex remotely controlled surgical operation using robotic technology. Existing telehealth systems usually rely on Internet of Things and sensors to monitor the health status of patients and transmit the collected data to the healthcare provider using wireless technology. Different standard channels, models and protocols have been developed to support the functions of existing wireless communication technologies. This chapter reviews wireless communication channels, models and protocols used in telehealth systems. The study aims to enable researchers and healthcare providers to decide on the telehealth system that best suits their needs and requirements.
