Information-Centric Networking (ICN) is emerging as a promising future internet architecture with significant potential as a green power technology in computer networking. Among ICN technologies, Named-Data Networking (NDN) particularly stands out due to its named-based routing and built-in caching capabilities within each router. This unique combination of elements allows ICN to effectively reduce energy consumption in communication networks. This paper delves into a comprehensive study of various strategies aimed at achieving power savings within ICN technology. Each approach is meticulously examined in the context of prior research, providing a deep understanding of their individual merits and contributions. To facilitate a systematic comparison, we have aggregated the findings into a table that serves as a valuable resource, offering a holistic view of how ICN technology can significantly lower overall energy consumption in network operations. By shedding light on these strategies, we aim to contribute to the development of more sustainable and energy-efficient networking solutions in the evolving landscape of ICN technology.
