A Method for Improving Millimeter Wave SAR Image Quality Based on Coherent Speckle Noise Suppression

Speckle noise seriously hinders the application of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. Based on the formation mechanism of speckle noise, the principle of filtering algorithms for suppressing SAR speckle noise was analyzed. The filtering algorithm was validated using millimeter wave SAR image data to remove speckle noise in SAR images. The filtering effect was quantitatively analyzed based on the evaluation parameters of noise filtering effect.
