Artificial intelligence (AI) can help providers and their practices improve operations like scheduling and patient check-ins and check-outs. Like providers, payers can reap enormous benefits from using AI to manage their businesses. The administrative costs of healthcare is higher in the United States than other advanced nations by a magnitude of 3–8, and a big reason for the United States having much higher overall costs of care. AI could have a significant impact when detecting fraud in health plans. AI can help health plan providers to improve the frequency and personalization of communications between providers and their members. When done well, AI can humanize engagement, empowering healthcare consumers to participate in their own healthcare based on their responses to personalized touchpoints that are sent out in appropriate amounts and via the best channels for the consumer.
