Tulip Bera, Shuvabrata Dey · 2023
This paper proposes an FPGA implementation of a Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter using a Quaternary base number system (QBNS) multiplier. QBNS FIR filter is a well-organized and powerful filter that can be widely used in various applications, such as audio and video processing, wireless communication, biomedical signal processing, control systems, and various DSP applications. Quaternary base number system (QBNS) is totally a new concept that uses 4 bases 2,3,5,7. This paper presents simulation results for a Quaternary base number system FIR filter on Xilinx FPGA. Our research shows that using the Quaternary base number system multiplier results are more accurate compared to the Double base and Triple base number systems.
