GUI Testing for Android Applications: A Survey

GUI testing plays a vital role in ensuring the quality of Android apps. As the number of Android applications continues to surge, there is a substantial rise in the need for GUI testing of these apps. This paper thoroughly analyzes and summarizes the community's contributions to GUI testing for Android apps. It offers a comprehensive categorization and introduction of existing methods in testing input generation techniques, record and replay techniques, as well as state-of-the-art Android GUI testing frameworks. Furthermore, it discusses the key challenges and outlines future research directions for GUI testing of Android applications.
