Preserving multimedia information security through the use of fractal-based cryptosystems: trends and challenges
Nessrine Abbassi, Hajjaji Mohamed Ali · 2023
Unquestionably, the multimedia information security applications and trends are advancing at a high speed of light, despite all malicious threats and intentions of hackers. From the cryptosystem design to the hardware implementation, the cryptographic applications continue to attest its efficiency and various aptitudes of use in several sensitive sectors such as the medical and military ones, requiring indeed a high performance of security, privacy conservation, and low energy consumption. Nevertheless, the information security field continues to attract hackers who never skip the opportunity of interfering and stealing or damaging confidential data. This chapter provides a brief overview of recent works and solutions suggested for efficient multimedia information security using various theories such as chaos theory, cellular automata structures, and algebraic operators alongside some reconfigurable technologies-based approaches. Throughout this chapter, a secure application combining fractal bases, cellular structures, and chaotic attractors is proposed, to be an efficient approach for multimedia information security with low power consumption and high-speed processing competence in safe storage and transmission of data.
