The notion of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) refers to a set of devices that create interconnections between humans, equipment, sensors, and other systems, and thus enhance the quality of medicine&s;s services through technological advances. The emergence of the IoMT has been ongoing for some time, and a wide range of approaches and architectures have been considered to leverage its tremendous reach. Healthcare services through Internet of Things (IoT) technology are designed to provide an efficient, easily usable, and secure solution. While the specialized healthcare offered by the IoT knows no temporal or spatial boundaries, several associated issues have emerged at an increasing rate. Due to the very rapid advancement of IoT-based healthcare service systems, it is essential to think about potential threats and propose countermeasures. Among the key processes in securing systems, authentication involves validating the identity of an individual, a device, or any system. This review analyzes the various authentication solutions being considered for IoT-based healthcare systems.
