This paper proposes a new chaotic symmetric key stream cipher specifically designed for securing images in the Internet of Things (IoT) environment. The cipher utilizes chaos theory to generate a secure and unpredictable key stream, ensuring image confidentiality and integrity. It is based on W7 cipher and 3D-Chebyshev chaos map. It operates in a stream cipher mode, encrypting each pixel individually, and incorporates synchronization mechanisms for error-free decryption. A hardware design of the proposed Cipher is elaborated by using VHDL description language and implemented on Xilinx PYNQ-Z2 FPGA device. Experimental results demonstrate its resistance to attacks and efficient performance, making it suitable for real-time image transmission in resource-constrained IoT applications.
