An open-source security scanning tool called Nmap (Network Mapper) is used to find hosts and services on a network and build a topological map of the network. Nmap is capable of a wide range of activities, including host discovery, port scanning, version detection, OS identification, and vulnerability scanning. It may be used to scan individual hosts or large networks. Nmap's capacity to conduct covert scans utilizing a variety of scanning methods, including SYN scan, TCP connect scan, and idle scan, is one of its primary characteristics. In order to test network defenses, it can also conduct aggressive scans. This article covers approximately fifty Indian government sites with regard to professional and network security-related problems, such as OS system guesses, the number of open/closed/filtered ports, the name of the Web server, etc. Using the Nmap (network mapper) tool, the results are examined from a security perspective.
