The rapid progress in the wireless communication has significantly made the data transmission faster. But this transmission process is also threat to data being altered, destructed or copied by any intruder, attacker or unauthorized user. Once information departs from protected networks, it traverses publicly accessible systems like the Internet, introducing a heightened level of complexity to security concerns in a network environment. Hence, it is important to safeguard the data transmission by restricting the access to our transmitted data by ensuring the information is secured during its journey in the network. To ensure data privacy and integrity the various encryption technologies have come across. One such is the steganography. In steganography, data is concealed in the media files such as text, audio, video or image. This embedded file is called stego file which can be transmitted over the network. Which is likely not be detected with the concealed data into the stego file as a result the information is transmitted securely. To embedded the data into such media files we use improved Bi-LSB approach. The standard LSB technique may be easy to detect the hidden data and hence to enhance the concealing level we use improved Bi-LSB technique over standard LSB technique. The input data is text format and the steganography carried out for data is audio and video files. In order to provide dual security to the information to transmit through the network, along with steganography we implement encryption using AES 256. For greater security, both the sender and the recipient encrypt and decrypt the data using the AES 256 technique. The performance measurements are measured using various file sizes. While the PSNR ranges from 45 dB to 110 dB, the MSE produces average values of 2.2e-04 and 5.4e06 for audio and video steganography, respectively. The performance metric results are more encouraging. The technology uses steganography to safeguard data from hackers and ensure that it is securely transmitted to the intended recipient.
