Nowadays, around the world the deployment of the fifth-generation (5G) mobile network is in progress and Emergency Calls (eCall) have not been provided yet since are under study. Therefore, the contribution of this work is to provide an overview of how 5G eCall are deployed using both voice and video calls over IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) in the 5G mobile network utilizing the New Radio (NR) interface. The article highlights the main points considering the deployment of 5G eCalls in Stand-Alone (SA) architecture evaluating also, how session protocols are exchanged through the 5G eCall session. In addition, the development of pieces of source code to allow emergency services on devices was done. Moreover, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) messages are assessed and a QoS metric e.g. jitter, for 5G eCall over both Voice over New Radio (VoNR) and Video over New Radio (ViNR) services using IMS. In addition, an evaluation of statistics for eCall using VoNR and ViNR is done.
