AmI-L: An Ambient Intelligent LiDAR-Based Framework for Smart Home Care

Over the next decade, home care aides are on track to grow in employment by around 5 times more than the average job in the United States. However, a single home care aid is unaffordable for the average family. This will create a big economic health disparity in the U.S. Consequently, this indicates the need for less expensive, high-tech supplements to at-home care. At-home care systems have the potential to fill this need. This paper proposes the Ambient Intelligent LiDAR (AmI-L) framework, a novel framework that incorporates light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensors into a smart home system to enable ambient intelligence (AmI) for at-home care monitoring.
