Implementation of Enhanced Spider Monkey Optimization for D2D Communication through IoT
Journal of System and Management Sciences · 2022
The rapid magnification of connected devices and a massive rise in mobile data have introduced the Internet of Things (IoT) technology.Device-to-Device (D2D) communication is a standard for future IoT networks that aims to achieve high data rates, ultra-low latency, and energy efficiency.Topology management is critical for energyefficient D2D communication, and cluster-based topology management is better for enhancing the network's performance.Choosing the best Cluster Head (CH) by considering the communication metrics will extend the network's lifetime. We present an Enhanced Spider Monkey Optimization (SMO) algorithm based on a multi-objective fitness function to choose the best CH and routing path for effective D2D communication.Experimental findings reveal that enhanced SMO improves packet delivery ratio, average energy consumption, and end-to-end latency compared to similar protocols.
