Wireless Channel Measurement Technology

This chapter introduces wireless channel measurement techniques. In a mobile communication system, the propagation path between the transmitter and receiver is complex. The received signal has strong randomness in different physical environments. It is thus important to conduct measurements for channel characterization. This chapter first introduces methods of channel sounding. Then it introduces time-domain channel sounding technology and frequency-domain channel sounding, respectively, with time-domain channel sounding being divided into pulse-based channel detection technology and correlation-based channel detection technology. Static and dynamic channel sounding techniques are introduced in the fourth subsection. Finally, dynamic channel sounding activities carried out by some research institutions in recent years are presented.
