Analyzing the Impact of ECU Synchronization on the SOME/IP Service Discovery

As advanced technologies for driver convenience develop day by day, vehicle systems continue to become complicated. Also, the amount of data to be processed in the vehicle network is increasing. In this situation, there is a need for a service-oriented architecture that can effectively manage the software platform. SOME/IP is Ethernet-based middleware and is attracting attention as a means of implementing a service-oriented architecture. However, some problems have not yet been solved to be actively applied to vehicle systems. This paper aims to deal with the subscription latency problem in the SOME/IP service discovery process. We analyze the effect of jitter on startup behavior and show how much the subscription latency improves when ECU time synchronization is applied.
