The MAC (Media Access Control) service on the Ethernet standard is implemented by the hardware module known as IP (Intellectual Property for Ethernet Interface). This IP module's objective is to make it simple to create new devices that can connect to an Ethernet LAN (Local Area Network). This IP module with an interface to Ethernet LANs is reusable for many designs due to the standard protocols employed. Verilog is used to simulate and describe the Ethernet Interface IP. The existing Ethernet Protocol uses Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC). We have improved the error correction and detection approach in the existing ethernet protocol design architecture by utilizing redundant matrix coding. The tool used for designing Ethernet Protocol is Questa Sim.
