This comprehensive survey paper examines the current state of deepfake detection techniques, analyzing their strengths, weaknesses, and limitations, as well as their effectiveness in detecting different types of deepfakes. We also analyze the evolution of deepfake detection techniques over time and discuss future research directions. By providing a thorough examination of the existing literature, this paper aims to assist researchers, practitioners, and policymakers in understanding the current landscape of deepfake detection and identifying areas for future development.
