LBCC: A Load Balanced Collaborative Caching in Content Based Networking
Mina, Dipannoy Das Gupta, Mahmuda Naznin · 2023
Named Data Networking (NDN) is a new networking system for the next generation network architecture where networking is done based on the contents. In-network caching in NDN is a very challenging problem due to computing resource constraints and for finding the proper network node to store the content or data in a NDN. Moreover, limited resource caches and the distributed locations of cache storage have made the problem complex. Content caching is done in network layer that makes caching overload and makes packet forwarding and routing more difficult. Therefore, it is important part of NDN is to find the best locations to cache the best content. In our research, we propose a load balanced collaborative content caching strategy in NDN where we compute content popularity using some vital deciding factors like content request rate and request pattern. We support the claim by simulation study using the most popular and realistic network simulator NS3 based ndnSIM. We have found better performance of our method in terms of cache hit ratio, response time and interest satisfaction ratio.
