In recent years, studies have been conducted to improve instructional videos, one of which demonstrated the effectiveness of a robot’s gaze-guidance for supporting tasks. In addition, impression manipulation by gaze and the social promotion effect of the presence of anthropomorphic agents have been shown. In this study, we hypothesized that support using the gaze of an anthropomorphic agent would aid in real-world part searching and instill a sense of security and trust in the system, as well as social facilitation. Consequently, we developed two types of agents: a robot and a CG agent. As a first step in testing this hypothesis, we conducted an experiment in which participants performed assembly tasks while watching an instructional video. The results indicated that both agents improved work efficiency and were capable of social facilitation.
