In spite of increased attention being paid to the safety of electronic health records and efforts being made by major cities all over the world to construct smart city infrastructure, information breaches frequently result in the theft of sensitive data pertaining to patients. The majority of patient records have been lost as a result of past attempts to find a solution to the issue. The procedures that are currently used for record oversight are not reliable because they do not achieve an acceptable balance between the need to protect patient privacy and the requirement for frequent communication between patients and healthcare professionals. A relatively recent advancement in technology, known as blockchain, makes it possible for data to be shared in a manner that is both more open and transactional. Blockchain presents an opportunity to find a middle ground in terms of privacy and utility in the context of electronic medical records. In the course of this research, we plan to develop a blockchain-based architecture that will, on the one hand, enable affected individuals, donors, and third parties to have interoperable and effective access to medical data while, on the other hand, safeguarding sensitive data pertaining to those individuals. The level of access control, data complexity, and security provided by our platform is enhanced by the utilization of smart contracts hosted on the Hyperledger blockchain. This study’s objective is to investigate the framework’s potential for resolving the industry’s long-standing confidentiality and security challenges. This will be accomplished by investigating how different demands from patients, donors, and other interested parties can be accommodated by the data that is collected from healthcare providers.
