Corpus applications in L2 German teaching

This chapter presents a narrative review of indirect and direct applications of corpora in L2 German teaching. The reviews of all applications start with their origin, frequently in the L2 English teaching domain. The review of indirect applications for German is divided by material type: dictionaries, testing materials, reference grammars, and textbooks. The subsequent review of direct applications in L2 German teaching describes published pedagogical application descriptions with a focus on the utilized teaching methods and activities and is organized chronologically into three periods. The chapter concludes with a summary of available corpus-based pedagogical resources for teaching L2 German and existing gaps.
