Layer-Based Security Threats in IoT Networks

Muna Muhammad, Ahthasham Sajid, Hira Arshad · 2023

The IoT is the next era of communication. Many applications of the IoT objective is to operate devices with as little human interaction as possible. The upcoming and existing IoT applications are highly promising for increasing efficiency, level of comfort, and automation. Implementing such a world in an ever growing manner requires privacy, high security, recovery from attacks, and authentication. For this, IoT architecture must be developed in a way that these objectives can be met in smart environments. In this survey, a detailed review is made of the security threats and attacks based on different layers of IoT systems. After the discussion of security attacks, many existing and emerging technologies and methods to secure IoT systems are discussed.
