The future 6G technology is envisioned to support ultra-reliable (BLER−6) and ultra-low latency (n, can not meet the rate-compatible requirement for mobile communications. To the best of our knowledge, the puncturing or shortening schemes for PAC codes are rarely studied, though there are many rate-compatible schemes for polar codes. In this paper, we propose some low-complexity schemes, including puncturing and shortening to construct rate-compatible PAC codes. Besides, a joint shortening and puncturing scheme of PAC codes is also explored to modify the blocklength of PAC codes, by combining the shortened and punctured bit sets. Simulation results show that our proposed rate-compatible PAC codes significantly outperform the rate-compatible polar codes in the 5G new radio standard.
