Digital Image Processing Principles

John R. Schott · 2007

Abstract The field of digital image processing (DIP) continues to grow at a very rapid rate. This growth is spurred by improvements in the speed of computers and the conse-quent reduction in the cost of computing power. When combined with technologi-cal advances in detectors and electronics (particularly in analog-to-digital converters), the advance in technology now puts digital images at every user’s fingertips. The treatment presented here is a very small sampling of digital image technology aimed at providing the user with a common terminology and a limited exposure to some DIP tools applicable to most monochrome (single band) or color images that are frequently used in remote sensing.
