ROLE OF PREFRONTAL CORTEX-VENTRAL-HIPPOCAMPUS NETWORK IN APPETITIVE SPATIAL EXTINCTION
Marta Méndez‐Couz, Denise Manahan‐Vaughan · IBRO Neuroscience Reports · 2023
In an ever-changing environment conditions, subjects must adapt to their current atmosphere by adjusting their previously learned responses. The prefrontal cortex is well known to be necessary for a flexible behavioural response and decision making. Similarly, the prefrontal cortex-hippocampus network plays a key role in the acquisition and reconsolidation of spatial memory. How this structure is involved in the flexible behavior needed to update a previous associated response during extinction learning, is yet to be elucidated.
